Deepak Hooda father, Jagbir, was a member of the Indian Air Force and a Kabadi player. His family is from Rohtak, Haryana, and he lives in DLF City Phase-1, Gurugram, Haryana. Deepak began his cricket career at Kendra Vidyalaya because his father was an IAF officer.

He has a brother named Ashish Hooda. He used to play cricket, but he has stopped playing due to a shoulder injury.
